Apprentice information day attracts more than 200 visitors

starlim//sterner has been successfully training apprentices for about 40 years. 211 youths and adults on the apprentice information day could see for themselves that starlim//sterner's apprentice training is of a high standard.

Marchtrenk-based starlim//sterner successfully manufactures injection molds and form-shaped parts made of silicone. This success is based on their well-qualified staff. The apprentices told their 211 visitors on the apprentice information day on October 30, what it is like to start from the very beginning, as an apprentice. Experience and knowledge come gradually, step by step.

From an apprentice point of view

Fourth year apprentices told their expectant guests on their company tour of their training routine. For an hour or so they talked about their employer and described the progress of their training at starlim//sterner and reported of the ups and downs they have to cope with and what points starlim//sterner is focusing on.

Next, there was shift to the more practical phase of the event. Boys and girls were allowed to try things out for themselves in order to get a feel for the jobs of metal technician (to specialize later in toolmaking or mechanical engineering) or plastics engineer, mechatronics technician or design engineer. In the end and over food and drink, they all sat together with the trainers to obtain valuable information on applying for job vacancies. On this occasion 21 appointments for further information were registered.

Apprenticeships are becoming more popular

"It is good to see that these days more attention is being paid to apprenticeships. Now it is perceived again as valuable education", head of training Reinhard Koch says and he is pleased because of the gradual image change. An apprenticeship is a great advantage to have on the labor market and within a company. starlim//sterner offers good chances for the future for those who are really keen; 100% of graduated apprentices are employed to work for the company. In the end it is the mix of technical and social competence that produces mature personages and these people are integrated into the company as well qualified specialists.
