Optimised exploitation of compressed air
An ultramodern central compressed air plant has been commissioned at the main location in Marchtrenk. All components of the old plant were gradually replaced by innovative and energy-efficient equipment during the course of this project. This includes new compressors, refrigeration dryers and filters, and this considerably improved performance.
A conversion of cooling lines was also necessary if a complete renewal of the plant was to be realised. This work was successfully realised during continuing operation without any significant impairment of the production process.
Advantages of the new central compressed air plant:
- 18% lower power consumption, but with the same air output when compared to the old plant.
- More efficient heat recovery, whereby heating is only possible with the waste heat of the central compressed air plant during the transitional period. This results in an annual CO2 saving of around 232 tonnes.
- Improved remote monitoring facilitates improved accessing of the plant and more efficient control.
- The switching and control system was also completely modernised during this renovation, resulting in the optimising of the entire control concept.
