The power of the Sun: Sustainable energy generation at starlim and sterner
In the context of continuous commitment to sustainability, starlim and sterner have increased their reliance on sustainable energy sources. A significant component of this strategy is the use of photovoltaic systems (PV systems) at our locations in Marchtrenk, Weisskirchen and Lambach. With an overall output of around 1.5 MWp, we exploit the energy of the Sun to cover our own energy requirement in an environmentally friendly manner.
Our PV systems cover an impressive area of around 8,400 m². These systems are designed exclusively for our internal consumption, meaning all the electricity generated is used directly in our production processes and the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The shift system we employ in our enterprise means the solar power generated can be used effectively 24/7, thus exploiting the complete output of the systems to the full.
The electricity generated by our PV systems covers about 3% of our entire power requirement. This may appear minuscule at first glance, but the impact is considerable, as our own production enables us to save around 330 tonnes of CO2 per annum. In addition to reducing our ecological footprint, this also demonstrates our active contribution to climate protection.
starlim and sterner PV systems generate around 1.5 million kWh of electricity each year. To put this volume into perspective, an average 2-person household in Austria consumes around 3,000 kWh of electricity per annum. Therefore, our annual solar power production could, theoretically, provide 500 households with electricity for an entire year.
This investment in solar energy is a central component of our comprehensive sustainability strategy. It reflects our efforts to make a contribution to a sustainable future through innovative and environmentally-friendly technologies. In addition to reducing our energy consumption, our efficient use of natural resources is also a clear indication of responsible corporate action.
