Apprentices – record admission at starlim-sterner
A picture, completely in blue, takes shape on September 1 every year in Marchtrenk, because that’s when starlim-sterner gains new momentum – the new apprentices have arrived. And there are lots this year – 16 girls and boys were admitted to the tool maker and plastic mold manufacturer on 1 September.
This year starlim-sterner looks back on 40 years of apprentice training. In the first 35 years, only a handful of apprentices were taken on, but now we are increasingly investing in training. “For the first time we have taken on 16 apprentices – more than ever before. Today starlim-sterner employs 54 apprentices – that is an absolute record. And the good thing is: All of them can stay with us after their final apprenticeship examination”, explains Reinhard Koch, apprentice trainer in the company.
100% acceptances
starlim-sterner has a large requirement for specially trained experts. This is why the apprenticeships in metals technology are offered with the main model of tool making technology or mechanical engineering, plastic mold manufacturing and mechatronics engineering. Everyone who completes their apprenticeship in the company, is assured a position after their final qualification. starlim-sterner has taken on 100% of its apprentices for eight years now.
“This year, we also have a girl again, which we are particularly happy about”, affirms trainer Reinhard Koch. The first girl apprentice was accepted to the technical school in 2009. “Since then – if possible – there have always been girls. But we don’t follow a quota”, confirms Koch.
Applications are already underway
starlim-sterner’s reputation for offering a good apprenticeship precedes it. This is why the company is already registering applications for 2017. Not least, the offer of the apprenticeship with school leaving certificate is popular. The many special benefits also make the apprentice training attractive. Thereby, bonus payments for good performance, and payment of mobile phone costs are high on the popularity scale.
